Urban Umbrella

Data Tree

The Urban Umbrella was created using the Rhino plug-in Grasshopper. Graph Mappers were used to control how points shift and shape the overall form. Adjusting the graph curves allowed the canopy’s profile, depth, and overall expression to change while keeping the same underlying parametric system.

3D Model

These iterative renderings were generated directly from the Grasshopper data tree, illustrating the dynamic evolution of the 3D model in response to parametric manipulation. Variations in the Grasshopper parameters control the number of faceted surfaces, vertical articulation, and the overall formal expression of the umbrella structure.

Rendering

The Urban Umbrella rendering was produced using the generative AI platform GPT Image. A series of carefully calibrated prompts were employed to refine the contextual environment, structural surface articulation, lighting conditions, and shadow behavior.
